Achieving Excellence for Every Child, Every Day.

Respectful. Resilient. Resourceful.

Medical Matters

If your child is absent from school due to illness or for any other medical reasons, a message must be left with the school office on the first day of absence via the school answerphone or by email to wickhamcommon@mslt.org.uk. All infectious diseases must be notified to the school office.

If your child has an epipen or asthma pump please ensure that you speak to the school office to complete the appropriate paperwork.

If a child is recovering from a short term illness for which the doctor has prescribed a course of medication but is considered by the doctor to be fit enough for school before the course of treatment is complete, parents may call at the school at the appropriate time during the day to administer the medicine. In many cases, medicines prescribed by doctors are taken three times a day and, therefore, can be given before school, after school and at bedtime. It is school policy not to keep or administer any medicines in school unless there are exceptional circumstances. In such cases the school will require specific written medical information.

When a child is absent due to vomiting and/or diarrhoea, please ensure that he/she is symptom-free for at least 48 hours as per Public Health Guidelines before returning to school.

If your child has an injury, such as a broken bone, please make sure that you contact the school office before bringing your child back into school so that the necessary precautions can be put in place for their safety.
